Friday 30th September:

As my friends and followers on Facebook and Twitter will know, I ran a competition where entrants sent in a picture of themselves holding ‘Shine’ in the most interesting place and congratulations to Katherine! Her winning picture was amazing and very interesting! Here is her winning entry:

She won two tickets to see me perform live in Gloucester Cathedral in ‘Gloucester Performs’ (part of the Cheltenham festival). We also managed to get her and her guest two tickets to the after party which meant I got to spend even more time with them!
It was a wonderful evening. In the first half I sang ‘Lighthouse of Mine’ and ‘Glorious’, accompanied by the incredibly talented Greg Lake on guitar. Then in the second half I was invited back on to the stage to perform ‘Oh Shenandoah’ with The Gloucester Cathedral Youth Choir. They sang so beautifully, it was fantastic to be able to sing with them and it brought back memories of singing with the choir when I first joined as a pioneer member at the age of nine.
Thank you to everyone who came and took part and thank you to Total Star and BBC Radio Gloucestershire for interviewing me the morning of the concert to help raise awareness of the event.

Saturday 1st October:

On Saturday 1stOctober I sang at and took part in Shine 2011 for Cancer Research! An absolutely fantastic event for such a good cause! Here are some of the pictures taken in a time line:

Getting ready to perform ‘Stand as One’ and face the huge crowd!

After I’d performed for the first time to the people walking the full marathon, the organisers asked me if I would like to sing two songs when I perform to the people walking the half marathon! So we chose ‘Lighthouse of Mine’, and then I was to have a little interview before singing ‘Stand as One’.

In this picture you can see the stage set up with the big screens so that people further back in the crowd could still see me.

We’re at the start and ready to get going!

Vicky, Kat and I at mile 4! Thank you to Ash for taking this picture! Thank you to Cancer Research for the amazing hats!

The half way point with Rich’s homemade flapjack and a hot chocolate! Just what I needed!

Proudly displaying my medal! Pretty tired but so glad I did it! Once across the line I did lots of stretching to help my tired legs!

Thank you so much to Cancer Research for everything, for looking after me at Shine 2011 and for the opportunity to perform at your fantastic event! I had an amazing time –looking forward to next year!
